Worship Services

Worship is our very human effort to understand and celebrate what is most valuable and worthy in our lives and in the world. At the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron, our worship services are organized around diverse themes, seek to touch both head and heart, and always strive to create a space where people can find deeper spiritual truth and meaning.

Weekly Sunday Morning Worship

10:30 am Worship Service

On most Sunday mornings, our services include a sermon, beautiful and inspiring music, a time for all ages, prayer and meditation, a ritual for sharing personal joys and sorrows, and readings from diverse spiritual sources.  Our services generally last about an hour.

Upcoming Sunday service descriptions are available through our calendar page and monthly newsletter, or click here:  http://www.uuakron.org/calendar/

Sunday School

On most Sunday mornings children attend the beginning of the service with their family. Services usually include a Children's story or Time for all ages. After about fifteen minutes the children are released to attend their Sunday School classes. They are also welcome to stay in the service with their parents. For children under three years of age, the nursery is open fifteen minutes before the service begins.

Special Worship Services

Intergenerational Services

Intergenerational services are an important part of our worship life. Recent intergenerational services have included an Ingathering service featuring hundreds of balloons flying all over the sanctuary and our annual Interdependence Day, which drew wisdom from Native American religious traditions.

Seasonal and Sacred Celebrations

Members of our church community look forward to the UU Church of Akron’s seasonal celebrations. Those services include our Christmas Eve Candlelight services, Interdependence Day, a Yom Kippur service on forgiveness, Easter, Martin Luther King JR., Earth Day, All Souls Day, earth-centered and solstice celebrations.

Rites of Passage

Rites of passage mark important transitions in our lives. Important rites of passage at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron include weddings, commitment ceremonies, memorial services, child dedications, youth bridging, new member ceremonies, and Coming of Age.

Child Dedication Sundays

During our child dedications, which take place a couple of times each year,
we welcome children into the church community, honor the love and commitment of their families,
and pledge to nurture and accompany them on their life's journey.
Dedications are open to children of all ages. If you are interested in
having your child dedicated, please contact Rev. Tim Temerson at (330) 836-2206 or revtim@uuakron.org.
