Music Programs

Music is an integral part of the worship life of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron. Under the skilled leadership of Music Director, Bob Carlyon, and supported by keyboardist, Brian Laakso, our musical offerings add beauty, spiritual depth, and inspiration to our worship services.

The Choir

The UU Church of Akron’s Chancel Choir participates in most Sunday morning services and is well known for its powerful and inspiring anthems. Whether singing a traditional hymn or a contemporary song, the choir uses its many vocal gifts to touch our hearts, stir our spirits, and get our feet moving!
If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact Music Director, Bob Carlyon.

The UU Band

The UU Church of Akron is blessed with the musical talents of the UU Band. The Band includes Brian Laakso on piano, Rich Roberts on drums, Mike Sampsel on guitar, Bill Brauning on bass guitar, and Kerry McIntyre on flute and saxophone, along with frequent guest musicians and singers. The Band’s blend of jazz and contemporary music adds a wonderful dimension to our worship life.

Musical Celebrations

The worship life of the UU Church of Akron includes special musical celebrations, like our annual holiday music service. These special services, led by Music Director, Bob Carlyon, feature keyboardist, Brian Laakso, guest instrumentalists, and the UUCA Chancel Choir
