Welcoming Congregation

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron is proud to be a Welcoming Congregation, meaning we encourage and celebrate the full and equal participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in our congregation, in society, and in the world at large.

Along with striving to be a community of welcome, we work to end all forms of discrimination and oppression against the LGBT community. Our Welcoming Congregation Team organizes our work on behalf of LGBT rights. Recent efforts have included marching in Cleveland Pride, holding a worship service and vigil for Transgender Day of Remembrance service, and participating in the Unitarian Universalist Association’s “Standing on the Side of Love” campaign.
